Currency:

The local currency is the New Turkish Lira (YTL Yeni Turkish Lira) useually pronounced as yeteler. The Kurus (koroosh) are the coins of which 100 make 1 YTL. The prices are very reasonable in Turkey, but the exchange rate varies daily and can be dramatic. Sterling, dollars and euros are accepted eagerly, use these for large purchases as it is possible to get larger discounts on goods. However, we recommend that you use the local currency for smaller items especially eating and drinking. A charge is made by some businesses for changing your money on the spot. Shop around for a good exchange rate, the commission charged for changing your money, varies from place to place. A word of warning! Do not deface or destroy the banknotes as this is very offensive to some Turkish people as they feel that it defiles their hero, Ataturk, whose picture is on each note. When it comes to Health and Security Health care in Turkey is excellent. All health care is private and should be paid for by your holiday insurance. Doctors speak good English and understand English terminology for ailments. Many hospital doctors have trained in America or Europe and are very skilled. However, listen carefully to dosage advice as the packages the medications come in with instructions for use, are in Turkish!!! Many people come to Marmaris for cosmetic, dental and optical care. These services are a fraction of the cost you would pay at home. In fact you can have a two week holiday, stay in a great hotel, have your needs taken care of, and still go home with cash in your pocket.it comes to Security do not have in your mind the old Turkey, Security is fully enhanced all over Turkey, Police man can be found in public streets, and all forbidden actions will be punished.

Turkish Bath experience

The Turkish baths are known locally as "hamam", and its traditions stretch far back into history. Like the Roman baths of old, the baths are a social occasion where friends meet to chat and relax. In fact it is an integral part of the Turkish culture and certain celebrations revolve around the baths. It is a rare pleasure which you can experience right here in Marmaris! In the "hamam", you will enter an exquisite atmosphere, which will refresh your body and soothe your soul. The "tellak" will take care of you: give you a good rubbing down and soap massage. All you have to do is walk into the marble chamber and relax as you lie down on "gobek tasi" (belly stone). From a tourist point of view, it is a not to be missed experience.
